Autonomous System Survey 2021

Survey Information

Survey Purpose: to gather information on the development and use of autonomous systems within Australian industry, and on industry’s perspective regarding challenges and opportunities the technology presents. This information will be used by TAS, on a confidential basis, to inform the common-good project “National Accreditation Support Facility Pathfinder Project” which is funded by QLD Government. It may also be de-identified for use in academic research.
Responses sought from: individuals and businesses involved in any or all of the design, manufacture, testing, assurance, accreditation and operation of autonomous systems.
Benefit to participants: our team is working to improve the assurance and accreditation process for autonomous systems. Your input will assist us to deliver practical, tailored solutions, which will drive efficiency and lower the resources required to assure, accredit and operationalise autonomous systems in Australia. A report will be provided to all participants outlining the results of the survey and how we intend to address them.

3. What do you see as an area of need that currently exists which is not being explored in relation to the use of autonomous systems in your domain? What use cases do you expect to emerge? *

4. Are there any specific regulatory or compliance issues you encounter in relation to developing, assuring (i.e. testing), accrediting or using autonomous systems? What limitations does this impose on you and your business? Do you have thoughts on possible improvements? *

5. What other challenges or barriers have you experienced in relation to developing, assuring, accrediting or using autonomous systems? Do you have thoughts on possible improvements? *

6. If a Body of Knowledge (BoK), explaining how to assure and accredit autonomous systems, were developed, would you want to contribute to it, and would you be likely to use it? Would you utilise a procedure or tool built to expedite the assurance and accreditation process, based on the BoK? *

7. Do you think industry would benefit from a Code of Practice consolidating best practice standards, methodologies and requirements for autonomous systems in your domain? If so, what examples would you give for what an ideal Code would look and operate like? *

8. If a dedicated land-based physical test range were available in QLD, would you utilise it? *
