In January 2019 the Defence CRC for Trusted Autonomous Systems launched a $9 million activity over 6 years which aims to better understand and embed ethics and the law into autonomous defence systems, such as self-driving military vehicles.

The activity led by DCRC-TAS, University of Queensland and University of New South Wales Canberra represents the biggest investment into understanding the social dimension of military robotics anywhere in the world.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government.
